message:Application Launch FailureThe application "Entourage" could not be launched because of a shared library error: "C"I have verified disk does not contain the jni_createjavavm symbol eclipse mac permissions and restarted, but the problem is still there. I have also followed the isolation steps recommended at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1710, so it looks as if the only solution is to archive and install jni_createjavavm example Mac OS X. However, after several office moves, I have mislaid the Install Discs. Is there another way to clear this problem quickly, without having the Install Discs?Richard Halliday PowerBook G4, Mac OS X (10.4.11) Posted on Oct 24, 2008 4:56 AM I have this question too Close Q: shared library error All replies Helpful answers by BDAqua, BDAqua Oct 24, 2008 12:18 PM

Tough without an Install disk, but possibly this will work...Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Reapply the big Combo update...The combo update for PowerPC-based Macs...http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx10411comboupdateppc.htmlRepair Permissions again, reboot when it completes. I’ve new versions of Root (v5-34-21, also recompiled from sources). My Makefile looks like:CXX=g++ -std=c++11 -m64 -lstdc++CXXFLAGS= -DIDSCANDUMP -I${IDSCAN} -I${ROOTSYS}/include -fPICLDFLAGS= -lstdc++ -L. -L$(ROOTSYS)/lib -lCore -lHist -lTree libIDSCAN.so: TrigIDSCANDict.o IDScanEventHeader.o IDScanRoIHeader.o IDScanSpacePoint.o ${CXX} -shared $^ ${LDFLAGS} -o $@TrigIDSCANDict.o: TrigIDSCANDict.cxx ${CXX} -g -c ${CXXFLAGS} $

Lore has it that it was initially forked off 4.4BSD Lite. The BSD heritage still shows, in fact Darwin was recently modernized with code from FreeBSD and NetBSD. Darwin's kernel is based on a combination of Mach 3.0, BSD, and does not contain proprietary functionality like the object-oriented driver layer IOKit. Although Mach originally is a micro-kernel design, the BSD kernel that sits on top of it is monolithic and the two are now so intertwined that they must be regarded as a single monolithic kernel. The user-space tools and libraries shipped with Darwin are mostly of the BSD persuation, as opposed to the GNU tools you get with Linux. Apple is not as strict as other BSDs though, and goes for useful compromises. For example, Apple ships both BSD make and GNU make, with GNU make installed as the default. 1.2 The Compiler and Tools Short story: The compiler is a gcc derivate, but installed as cc; you may have to patch Makefiles. Most packages won't build shared libraries. If you get errors related to macros, use the -no-cpp-precomp option. Long story: The compiler tool chain in the Mac OS X Developer Tools is a strange beast. The compiler is based on the gcc 2.95.2 suite, with modifications to support the Objective C language and some Darwin quirks. The preprocessor (cpp) is available in two versions. One is the standard precompiler (from gcc 2.95.2), the other one is a special precompiler written by Apple, with support for precompiled header

LabVIEW Development Systems>>LabVIEW Professional Development System Primary Software Version: 2009 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A Problem: I tried to build a shared library on my Mac OS X 10.6 or higher machine using Xcode 4 and I receive the following error:Error 1 occurred at DLL - Compile C Source File.vi Possible reason(s): You must have the Apple Developer tools installed to build a shared library. Install the Apple Developer tools and try to rebuild the shared library. Why does this happen and how can I fix it? Solution: To build part of a shared library in LabVIEW, Application Builder must use gcc, the standard command-line compiler for Unix and Mac OS X operating systems. You are receiving the error because Xcode 4 does not automatically install the command line tools needed to compile shared libraries. Unlike Xcode 3, the command line tools are now an optional install. To install the command line tools follow these instructions: Open Xcode and go to File»Preferences Click on the Downloads icon Install the Command Line Tools as shown below: Related Links: External Link: Xcode 4 LabVIEW Help: Characteristics of LabVIEW-Built Shared Libraries Attachments: Report Date: 04/18/2012 Last Updated: 08/23/2013 Document ID: 5WHFTIKW Your Feedback!
