Never found a solution that would solve my problem. I had a similar problem with imap and pop3

login. Wanted the user to authenticate as user@domain.tld instead of user-domain.tld or user.domain.tld Some research on virtualmin and webmin foruns pointed me to the right direction... And today, I tried to use the

user-domain.tld format and my emails started to be sent. I've been using qmail since forever, and was trying postfix. Have been testing the spam and virus filtering for some months now, and I decided it was time for a definitive change. There was the problem with sending emails. I wish someone could point me where to enable the use of: user@domain.tld in smtp auth. Thanks. sasl plain authentication failed: authentication failure Log in or register to post comments #2 Tue, 09/14/2010 - 09:50 andreychek Howdy, If you haven't already, you may want to take a peek in System Settings -> Server Templates -> Default -> Mail for Domain, and verify that "Format for usernames that include domain" is set the way you want it. (which sounds like it would be the user@domain format). That will only change new email accounts that are created... any existing account will continue to use the previous style. If you've created a new email account using the user@domain format, and it still doesn't allow you to log in, you'd want to make sure that saslauthd is running with the -r option. You can verify that by looking at the running process, which you can do with this command: "ps auxw | grep saslauth" If it does not have the -r option, we can get that fixed, just let us know what distro you're using :-) -Eric Log in or register to post comments #3 Tue, 09/14/2010 - 10:13 (Reply to #2) aplima Here is the output to ps auxw | grep saslauth root 27000 0.0 0.0 5564 488 ? I have the answer to all your problems. There's a clue right in your log: saslauthd[8044]: pam_unix(imap:auth): check pass; user unknown Remember how you put the PAM config in /etc/pam.d/smtp and not imap? And your log says imap? Yup, you're trying to auth on the wrong service. I actually found the solution in the Postfix SASL manual, just under where you found that Sasl test command: Testing saslauthd authentication Specify an additional "-s smtp" if saslauthd was configured to contact the PAM authentication framework Yup, you will soon find that the right invocation is rather: $ sudo testsaslauthd -u user@email.com -p password -s smtp 0: OK "Success." share|improve this answer answered Feb 5 '15 at 21:16 jonallard 22118 add a comment| up vote 1 down vote I assume you have config this module through it's config file /etc/pam_pgsql.conf which accepts debug parameter: database = db user = user [...] debug = 1 There's also a global debug parameter you should append

'Plesk 10.x for Linux Issues, Fixes, How-To' started by Thomas Becker, Dec 16, 2011. Thomas Becker Kilo Poster Messages: 81 Hello, I have the problem that I can't send mails with my Plesk 10.4.4 MU7 using Postfix on CentOS 6.1 because getting the error that the login credentials where wrong. IMAP login does work and the correct same passwort is used also for SMTP. /usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/mchk --with-spam Didn't solved it. The last time I did a Plesk and a yum update where amongst others this has been updated: Updated: pam-1.1.1-8.el6.i686 Updated: 2ostfix-2.8.4-11100615.i386 As I can see the password of mailusers are not checked the correct way. Maybe a problem with pam? Same problem when using plain password and encrypted password during authentication. maillog: postfix/smtpd[29726]: connect from xxxxxxxx[xx.xx.xx.xx] postfix/smtpd[29726]: warning: SASL authentication failure: Password verification failed postfix/smtpd[29726]: warning: xxxxxxxx[xx.xx.xx.xx]: SASL PLAIN authentication failed: authentication failure postfix/smtpd[29726]: warning: xxxxxxxx[xx.xx.xx.xx]: SASL LOGIN authentication failed: authentication failure postfix/smtpd[29726]: disconnect from xxxxxxxx[xx.xx.xx.xx] /var/log/messages: postfix/smtpd[29726]: SQL engine 'mysql' not supported postfix/smtpd[29726]: auxpropfunc error no mechanism available saslauthd[22083]: do_auth : auth failure: [service=smtp] [realm=xxx.de] [mech=pam] [reason=PAM auth error] saslauthd[22082]: do_auth : auth failure: [service=smtp] [realm=xxx.de] [mech=pam] [reason=PAM auth error] Please give me an idea how to solve this. During the update the file /etc/sasl2/smtpd.conf was renamed to /etc/sasl2/smtpd.conf.rpmsave So make sure that the two files /etc/sasl2/smtpd.conf /usr/lib/sasl2/smtpd.conf do exist and contain the following: pwcheck_method: auxprop saslauthd auxprop_plugin: sql_sqlite3 saslauthd_path: /var/spool/postfix/private/plesk_saslauthd mech_list: DIGEST-MD5 CRAM-MD5 PLAIN LOGIN auto_transition: yes sql_engine: sqlite3 sql_hostnames: localhost sql_database: /var/spool/postfix/plesk/passwd.db sql_select: SELECT `%p` FROM domains d, users u WHERE u.name='%u' and d.name='%r' and d.status=0 and u.status=0 and u.dom_id=d.id sql_verbose: yes log_level: 9Click to expand...
